Tasting notes
Nose
On the nose it is very expressive with notes of licorice, cinnamon and black pepper, where the long aging in wood is barely noticeable, thanks to its great complexity and concentration of ripe fruit.
Palate
In the mouth it is fresh, with very pleasant polished tannins, with good structure but easy to drink. The finish is long and leaves slight balsamic memories of great quality.

Description
Within its Historic Reserve, Marqués de Riscal has always had wines from the winery , to which this XR belonged. In the style of the foremen of Jerez, the winemaker marked some of his barrels with chalk with the word XR. having found some special features.
This XR was never marketed, but it was always a reference for the wine master in a custom that lasted almost a century, from 1869 to 1964. The XR is a tribute to all the great winemakers who have been part of the prestigious history of Marqués de Riscal. It has won the gold medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards 2022 .
