Bodegas Roda is located on the banks of the Ebro River, on a balcony in the La Estación neighborhood of Haro (La Rioja), on a 19th century cellar. Winegrowers used it to store crops, which were later sent to Bordeaux by rail to mitigate the damage caused by phylloxera.
Bodegas RODA was founded in 1987 and its facilities have been adapted to the needs of the moment and the pace of development, growing structurally in four phases developed in 1991, 1996, 2000 and 2018. All have been carried out in accordance with the problems of the time, with the 2018 phase - which has just concluded - having an energy objective in accordance with the 21st century: optimizing energy efficiency and using energy renewable.
The facilities were designed to suit Roda wines: adapting in each phase the number of vats to the vineyards selected each vintage, a bioclimatic room, the result of an unprecedented commitment to innovation, and two aging warehouses dug directly into the rock.
Roda controls around twenty vineyards distributed in the best ecosystems in the area, of which the best are vinified each year. At Roda, wines from other years are never used to standardize or refresh a vintage. Nor are vinifications purchased from other wineries. At Roda, winemaking is carried out in French oak vats with temperature control. In addition, the aging takes place 100% in French oak barrels.
