D.O. Utiel-Requena

The D.O. Utiel-Requena lies in the interior of the province of Valencia, in the Comunidad Valenciana. Its flagship grape is Bobal, a native variety that dominates the area's vineyards and yields reds and rosés of great personality.

Among the whites, Macabeo, Merseguera and Tardana or Planta Nova stand out, along with Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Verdejo, Moscatel de grano menudo, Viognier, Parellada, Godello, Garnacha Blanca, Albariño, Xarel·lo and Tortosí. Tardana, like Bobal, is native to the region.

Although Bobal reds are one of its great references, Utiel-Requena offers quite a wide range of wines: reds, rosés, whites and sparkling wines, as well as various designations related to winemaking and ageing.

The appellation even has the specific designations «Bobal», for certain single-varietal wines, and «Bobal Alta Expresión», reserved for wines that meet specific requirements, including coming from vineyards over 50 years old with limited yields.
